Submissions & Editorial Process
How do I submit my manuscript, and what file format is required?
Submissions (query letter and full manuscript) should be sent as a single attachment via email to submissions@jekanexusglobal.com
We require the manuscript to be submitted as a Microsoft Word (.docx) file. Please do not submit PDFs, as they complicate the critical copyediting and collaboration phases of our process.
Are there specific formatting requirements for the manuscript?
Yes, please adhere to standard manuscript formatting to facilitate a smooth editorial review. Your document should be double-spaced, use a 12-point font (like Times New Roman or Courier), and include page numbers and your last name/title in the header. We also request that you keep formatting simple; do not use custom styles or excessive ornamentation.
What rights are you looking to acquire, and do you accept work that has been previously published?
We primarily seek to acquire World English rights for print, digital, and audio formats. We are looking for original works that have not been previously published in any format (including self-published or digital-only releases). If your work contains previously published short stories, please note this clearly in your query letter.
What genres and subjects do you currently accept submissions for?
We are currently focused on acquiring and developing content in African Literary Fiction only: novels and short story collections by emerging and established African writers.
Do you accept simultaneous submission?
Yes, we accept simultaneous submissions, but we request that you immediately notify us if your manuscript is accepted elsewhere. This allows us to respect your time and the time of our editorial team.
What is your estimated response time for submissions.
Our standard response time for an initial review is approximately 6 to 8 weeks. Due to the volume of submissions, we ask that you wait until this period has passed before sending a query about your manuscript status.
